Boeing Launches 'Dispatches From Afghanistan' Web Site

LONDON, May 5, 2009 – Boeing Defence UK Ltd. today announced the launch of a public Web site titled “Dispatches From Afghanistan” that features stories, photos and videos documenting the experiences of British and allied forces who fly or rely on Boeing [NYSE: BA] aircraft for their daily missions in Afghanistan.

Two Boeing employees traveled to Afghanistan in February as guests of the United Kingdom’s Joint Helicopter Force Afghanistan in order to document British forces’ varied uses of the Chinook and Apache helicopters and the C-17 airlifter.

"Boeing products, and our employees who deliver and help maintain them, are critical to supporting the UK military forces deployed in Afghanistan," said Mike Kurth, managing director of Boeing Defence UK. "At the heart of their strategic and tactical mobility are the C-17 and Chinook, respectively. In addition, Apaches are providing outstanding support across a wide range of missions. ‘Dispatches From Afghanistan’ is a great way to share these stories, which are especially important to our employees because they reinforce the close relationships we have with our customers."

Boeing employs more than 650 people at sites across the United Kingdom, from Almondbank, Scotland, to Gosport in the south of England. The Boeing Company’s relationship with British industry, the armed forces and the air transport industry dates back more than 70 years.
