HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Aug. 14, 2026 — Boeing [NYSE: BA] has signed new seven-year framework agreements with the U.S. Department of War (DoW) and Raytheon, an RTX business, to increase production of critical hardware for the Standard Missile-3® (SM-3), including avionics and ejector assemblies that support precise intercepts of missile threats outside Earth’s atmosphere.
Under the agreements, Boeing will boost output of avionics and ejector assemblies for the SM-3 Block IB and Block IIA variants to enable increased production of the interceptors that form the backbone of U.S. sea-based missile defense at home and abroad.
“This gives us a clear demand signal to build and deliver SM‑3 interceptors at the levels needed to counter threats,” said Bob Ciesla, vice president of Boeing Precision Engagement Systems. “The SM‑3 is an essential part of the layered air and missile defense architecture that protects the U.S. and its allies worldwide.”
Boeing, the DoW and SM-3 prime contractor Raytheon will ramp up production ahead of contract as they negotiate a multi-year award under the frameworks.
The effort supports the administration’s focus on strengthening the Arsenal of Freedom and aligns with the DoW’s Acquisition Transformation Strategy to accelerate delivery of key capabilities to service members.
The SM-3 framework builds on Boeing’s existing agreement with the DoW and Lockheed Martin to increase production of PAC-3® Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) seekers.
