Satellite constellation set to level up service
- The 13-satellite constellation boosts global connectivity for mobile users, governments and others.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla., Sept. 13, 2026 — The final three Boeing [NYSE: BA] O3b mPOWER satellites, F11, F12 and F13, have joined 10 already in orbit following a successful launch from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

The launch completes the 13-satellite O3b mPOWER constellation, which is designed to boost global connectivity for mobile users, governments and other customers around the world.

The milestone enables partner company SES to significantly expand high-speed connectivity and enhance digital services to meet growing demand for bandwidth. Active customers using O3b mPOWER’s network capabilities include cruise lines, government organizations, civil entities, mobile operators and commercial airlines.

Boeing’s software-defined payload technology enables the satellites to dynamically route bandwidth, focus beam power and adjust capacity in real time to match evolving connectivity needs.

The system is designed to support areas where broadband is limited, including helping students in remote communities connect online for schoolwork and supporting physicians in small villages with improved telehealth services.

O3b mPOWER also serves as a technical baseline for defense systems Boeing’s satellite teams continue to develop for national security customers. Boeing is using a hardened version of this space-proven software-defined payload architecture for the U.S. Space Force’s Wideband Global SATCOM (WGS) and Evolved Strategic SATCOM (ESS) systems.

By combining O3b mPOWER’s high-performance payload with its standardized, scalable 702X platform, Boeing created a dual-use satellite architecture that can be built and integrated quickly and consistently for different orbits.

“With O3b mPOWER’s initial fleet successfully in space, our standardized 702X technology has officially established its on-orbit performance baseline,” Reid said. “This milestone gives our customers the schedule credibility and reliability of an active production line, minimizing risk while rapidly scaling crucial capabilities for the joint force.”

O3b mPOWER F11, F12 and F13 are forecast to enter service in mid 2027 after completing orbit raising and initialization activities.
