Connexion by Boeing, a business unit of The Boeing Company (NYSE:BA), and Hanaro Telecom celebrated the partnership between the two companies to bring the "Hanafosair" commercial service to Korean passengers. The partnership was discussed during a visit in Seoul last week between Connexion by Boeing President Laurette Koellner and Hanaro Telecom Chairman of Management Committee ByungMoo Park.
Last year, Connexion by Boeing® and Hanaro Telecom linked their respective networks, providing Hanaro Telecom customers with a seamless and simplified solution for accessing the Connexion by Boeing high-speed, real-time, in-flight Internet service, which operates in a similar manner to a ground-based public Wi-Fi. Hanaro Telecom holds the commercial license for Connexion by Boeing in Korea.
"We are very pleased to have a strong partnership with Hanaro Telecom in offering the award-winning Connexion by Boeing service to help Koreans connect to what’s important while traveling," said Koellner. "Connexion by Boeing and Hanaro Telecom are committed to working together to strongly promote the service in Korea, which has been received positively by travelers into and out of Seoul."
"Hanaro Telecom is on the leading edge of technology, partnering with Connexion by Boeing to bring Koreans high-speed Internet to their airplane seat," said Park. "We are the first and only telecommunications provider in the country to offer this valuable service."
Hanaro Telecom offers a pre-paid card "Hanafosair Pass," which allows passengers to pay for the service in advance of their flight.
Hanafosair, with in-flight Internet from Connexion by Boeing, is currently available on international flights originating from and flying to Incheon International Airport operated by Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, and Lufthansa.
Hanaro Telecom has launched a web site, www.hanafosair.com specifically to promote Connexion by Boeing service to passengers.
