Boeing and Tokyo-based Japan Airlines (JAL) announced that JAL increased the number of 747-400 Boeing Converted Freighters it will receive to eight, with an additional four options. JAL's first order for the passenger-to-freighter conversions was announced in October 2004 and included three firm modifications and four options. Hands-on conversion work began in December 2005 on JAL's first 747-400BCF. Boeing expects to redeliver the converted freighter to JAL in May 2006.
