Austrian Airlines has signed an order for the purchase of one Boeing 777-200ER, taking a significant step toward simplifying the operations and reducing the maintenance costs of its long-haul fleet. Austrian Airlines already operates three 777s on routes to Melbourne via Singapore and Sydney via Kuala Lumpur. The new 777 primarily will be used for increased frequencies on these routes. The airplane is valued at $181 million at list prices and is currently scheduled for delivery in late 2006.
