Boeing Australia Unveils Advanced International Systems Analysis Laboratory
Boeing [NYSE: BA] Australia, in collaboration with Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, has unveiled the most advanced simulation and operations analysis facility in Australia.
The Boeing Australia Systems Analysis Laboratory (SAL) has been upgraded as part of the 737 Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) Wedgetail program.
"This upgrade includes the procurement of world-leading simulation and analysis technologies as well as the advanced computing hardware necessary to drive the powerful operating system," said Patrick Gill, Boeing vice president of 737 AEW&C programs.
As a result, the SAL is now an international leader in constructive simulation and operations analysis. The complex task of integrating these leading-edge technologies was headed by Shane Arnott, Boeing Australia SAL Director. According to Arnott, this capability does more than simulate technical military systems. It also provides unparalleled decision support services and an environment to conceptualize and design network-centric architectures.
"Through the SAL, Boeing Australia and our defense customers can explore critical domains such as warfighting capabilities and concepts; logistics; battle management; and business elements such as cost, capability and risk trade-offs," said Arnott. "We can go beyond theorizing about network-centric operations and provide robust testing of military capabilities, their information networks, and how forces might best take advantage of the many possible combinations of technology and tactical concepts."
Arnott says this effectively saves money and potentially saves lives through the use of a virtual environment.
