Boeing Begins Assembly Work on World's Longest Range Jetliner

Mechanics at the Boeing airplane manufacturing facility in Everett, Wash., began major assembly work on the 777-200LR (Longer Range), the world's longest range passenger airplane. Workers loaded the first wing spar for the newest 777 airplane into the automated spar assembly tool (ASAT) shown here. Loading of the spar is the first step in the assembly process for the 777. The ASAT automatically drills, measures and installs more than 5,000 fasteners into the spar.
