Boeing Airplane That Changed History Reaches 50th Anniversary

The Boeing 367-80 airplane, commonly known as the "Dash 80," was publicly unveiled on May 14, 1954. The prototype of the Boeing 707 -- the world's first commercially successful jet-powered passenger plane -- the Dash 80 helped forever change commercial aviation. The airplane is shown here at its display location inside the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center near Washington, D.C.'s Dulles International Airport.
