A Cargolux 747-400 Freighter, like the one just ordered, stands ready for delivery with its nose door open at the Boeing facility in Everett, Wash. The combination of the nose and side cargo doors on the 747-400F provide the ability to earn higher yields by allowing shipments that no other Western-built freighter can accept. Special items that require the nose door can earn a 50 percent yield premium above and beyond normal yields, further enhancing profitability.
In addition, the 747-400 Freighter provides a three-meter-high main cargo door for taller loads, such as intermodal containers.
