Now there are three; Boeing [NYSE: BA] delivered Pakistan International Airlines its third of eight new 777 airplanes this week. The Karachi-based carrier continues its long-haul fleet replacement with the addition of another 777-200ER. PIA's order of the complete family of 777s in 2002 includes three 777-200ER (extended range), two 777-200LR (longer range) and three 777-300ER airplanes. It is the largest airplane order in the history of PIA and the largest capital goods order in the history of Pakistan. Deliveries will continue through 2008.
The carrier currently operates a mixed fleet of 737 and 747 airplanes. PIA's 777-200ERs will seat 329 passengers in a two-class configuration.
