Boeing delivered a second 777-200ER (extended range) airplane to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) last week. With an order of eight new Boeing 777s in 2002, PIA is replacing its current long-haul fleet with a complete family of 777s. That order includes three 777-200ER, two 777-200LR and three 777-300ER airplanes. It is the largest airplane order in the history of PIA and the largest capital goods order in the history of Pakistan. PIA is the launch customer for the 777-200LR (longer range) airplane. Deliveries will continue through 2008. PIA currently operates a mixed fleet of 737 and 747 airplanes, in addition to its new 777-200ER airplanes, which seat 329 passengers in a two-class configuration. Boeing delivered PIA's first 777 in January and the airline will take delivery of its third 777 in March.
