Boeing Delta IV Heavy Completes Rollout

Boeing officials announced today the successful rollout and vehicle erection of the first Delta IV Heavy launch vehicle at Space Launch Complex (SLC) 37 pad at Cape Canaveral AFS, Fla. Its launch is scheduled for summer 2004.

The longest rocket ever to have been moved horizontally to a launch pad, the Delta IV Heavy, takes 94 minutes to transport from the Horizontal Integration Facility to Space Launch Complex 37 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.

The Delta IV Heavy is erected from the horizontal to the vertical position on the launch pad at Space Launch Complex 37, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. This maneuver took 20 minutes for the 191, 400 pound rocket and was accomplished using two massive hydraulic cylinders.

An important page in the history of the Boeing Delta IV rocket program has been established on Dec.10 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. America's most advanced rocket completes its first rollout and vertical placement on Space Launch Complex 37. The first Delta IV Heavy launch is planned for early July 2004.
