Boeing To Demonstrate Advanced Technology Capabilities At Dubai Air Show

Advanced technologies will be at the forefront of the Boeing [NYSE:BA] exhibition during the 2003 Dubai Air Show. Programs from the Boeing Integrated Defense Systems business will be on display including a portable version of the Boeing Integration Center and the AH-64D Apache Longbow, an advanced multi-role combat helicopter.

The Boeing Integration Center is a high-tech simulation and visualization theater where people experience critical decision-making within a networked environment. The ability to operate in a net-centric environment is rapidly becoming a customer requirement. As part of the Boeing demonstration, decision-makers will step into an operational environment and experience a network-enabled battlespace.

The AH-64D Apache Longbow is a fully integrated digital platform with a variety of military applications, which will be performing daily aerobatic maneuvers during the air show. Apaches are in service in the Middle East and elsewhere around the world, and a growing number of nations are selecting the newest version Apache Longbow for their defense needs.

A C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft, the most advanced, versatile airlifter ever made, is also scheduled to be at the show. The C-17 is capable of flying long distances, carrying 169,000 pounds of payload and landing on short, austere runways close to the front lines.

Other high-technology products to be featured in displays at the show include:

  • V-22 Osprey -- an advanced tiltrotor design that gives operators the versatility of a helicopter and the speed and range of a turboprop aircraft
  • F/A-18E/F Super Hornet -- the cornerstone of U.S. naval aviation
  • 702 communications satellite -- the body-stabilized Boeing 702 is the world leader in capacity, performance and cost-efficiency
  • 737-700 Airborne Early Warning & Control System (AEW&C) -- Boeing is under contract to develop in Australia and Turkey for those nations' defense forces.

Boeing also will feature its Aerospace Support group, an integrated organization providing innovative products and services to reduce life-cycle costs and increase the effectiveness of aircraft and missiles systems.

"Boeing is not only at the Dubai Air Show to showcase proven technology like the C-17, the Apache and 702 satellite but also to give the customer a look into their future with the help of the VIP display", said Mark Kronenberg, vice president, international business development for the Middle East, for Boeing. "We are technology driven because it meets the needs of our customers for solutions to complex problems like enhancing airport security, securing borders and protecting air space."

Boeing has worked with customers in the Middle East for more than 50 years, providing quality products, and technology upgrades that keep systems of all types from becoming obsolete.
