AeroMexico's new Next-Generation 737-700 recently received its engines at the Boeing [NYSE: BA] Final Assembly facility in Renton, Wash. This 737-700 is the first of 15 high-technology airplanes ordered as part of AeroMexico's fleet modernization.

The airplane rolled out of the factory Aug. 25 for engine and other preflight testing. The first flight was Monday, Sept. 8, with delivery scheduled in early October.

All of AeroMexico's new 737-700s also will be equipped with Blended Winglets - eight-foot-high wingtip extensions that reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency and range - which will be installed following delivery. All work will be completed on the first 737-700 by mid-October. Meanwhile, final assembly began Monday, Sept. 8 on a second 737-700 for AeroMexico.

"The Next-Generation 737 is the most modern and technologically advanced airplane in its class," said John Wojick, Boeing Commercial Airplanes vice president of sales for Latin America and the Caribbean. "AeroMexico's new fleet will help it remain an industry leader."
