US Secretary Ridge Thanks Boeing for Homeland Security Efforts

U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge recognized the contributions of Boeing employees in promoting security in global aviation July 24 during a speech in Seattle. Ridge also remarked on the importance of technological innovation at Boeing, as well as throughout all of industry, in helping to keep the country secure.

"I want to thank the people of Boeing for their innovation. Innovation has been at the heart of Boeing's success -- it has been, is now, and always will be -- there's a culture of innovation here," said Ridge. "They (the people at Boeing) are very much a part of a national effort to secure the country. There's a role for everyone, not just the federal government."

Boeing Chairman and CEO Phil Condit (left), along with other senior Boeing executives, met with Ridge and reviewed work currently under way at the company to connect and protect the nation.

Boeing, the world's leading aerospace company, is at the forefront of developing many best practices and implementing advanced technology and large-scale solutions. Sec. Ridge's speech will be available for viewing at here.
