Preston Aviation Solutions Pty Ltd, a Boeing [NYSE: BA] wholly owned subsidiary, announced the appointment of Jamie Smith, Consulting Services manager. Smith, who joined Preston on May 12, has over 17 years of experience in the aviation industry. He brings a wide range of experience in operations control, strategic and tactical planning, software program development, project management, consulting, customer support and business development to his new position. He is based in Preston's Atlanta office and has responsibility for consulting and staff training and services in the U.S. and Europe.
Smith comes to Preston from Aeroxchange Ltd. in Texas, where he managed the product development and procurement teams. He successfully initiated and directed several significant software development projects. He also managed the global airline, caterer and supplier working groups to validate and update product requirements, and to determine opportunities for strategic and tactical joint procurement initiatives.
Prior to joining Aeroxchange, Smith was a program manager at ARINC in Maryland, where he managed a suite of three airport products while creating a new software application for airline operations. The production version of this prototype is still in operation today. In the earlier years of his career, Smith held numerous positions with US Airways, including dispatcher, followed by tower operations manager at the Philadelphia hub.
