Two new Boeing 747-400 Freighters ordered by Japan Airlines (JAL) are likely to sport a new look, as in this artist's rendering produced by Boeing [NYSE: BA], when they are delivered to the airline in 2004. The new freighters will be the first 747-400 Freighters that JAL has placed with Boeing Commercial Airplanes. The cargo airplanes will join Japan Airlines' current fleet of 10 747-200 Freighters and 71 747 passenger airplanes - the largest 747 fleet in the world.
Japan Airlines recently launched a new corporate identity that will be used by the new JAL Group formed by the on-going integration of JAL and Japan Air Systems.
