The first Boeing 777-200ER to be purchased by Alitalia takes off on a test flight from Paine Field in Everett, Wash. Boeing delivered the jetliner to the Rome-based international airline in late August. Alitalia has five more of the airplanes on order. The airline will use the 777s for nonstop flights to the United States, Canada, South America and Asia.
