In a Boeing factory near Seattle, the front section of fuselage for the first Alitalia Boeing 777-200ER jetliner is lifted into place and joined with other sections to form an airplane body. The airplane is scheduled for delivery to Rome-based Alitalia in August. Alitalia, the first Italian airline to purchase a new 777 from Boeing, has six of the airplanes on order. The fuselage of the 777-200ER, when fully assembled, is 63.7 meters long (209 feet, 1 inch). The Alitalia 777 will carry up to 291 passengers.
