NAV Canada Purchases Additional Aviation Simulation Software From Boeing Subsidiary The Preston Group

The Preston Group, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, has sold two additional Total Airspace & Airport Modeler (TAAM) licenses to NAV CANADA, the Canadian provider of civil air navigation services.

TAAM is a fast-time gate-to-gate simulation tool used by civil aviation authorities, aviation research establishments, airlines and airports worldwide to analyze operations, redesign airspace, optimize the use of existing facilities and plan for the future.

The additional TAAM licenses will be used to supplement NAV CANADA's existing TAAM capability in the simulation modeling of Canadian airspace and airports. According to Joël Morin, Manager of NAV CANADA's Air Traffic Services Simulation Centre, TAAM has become an integral part of their modeling environment.

"Now that we have more simulation capability provided by TAAM, we expect to enlarge the simulation scope, providing new types of analyses and studies," Morin said.

NAV CANADA uses TAAM to assist in optimizing its service effectiveness and efficiency by running models representing potential changes to the air traffic system, projected traffic growth and new procedures. Other TAAM projects include simulating the issues related to the introduction of new routes or equipment, regional and airport studies for capacity analysis, coordinated studies with Canada's airlines and other air navigation service providers.

The Preston Group provides leading simulation, decision support and scheduling systems for the global aviation industry. It has developed advanced optimization and visualization technology, as well as industry expertise, to meet the needs of its customers through innovative software systems and services. Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, the company also maintains offices in Washington, D.C., Atlanta and London.

NAV CANADA, the country's provider of civil air navigation services, is a private, non-share capital corporation with operations coast to coast providing air traffic control, flight information, weather briefings, airport advisory services and electronic aids to navigation.

The Preston Group is a unit of Boeing Air Traffic Management, which is developing revolutionary concepts to significantly enhance the safety and security of the air traffic system and increase capacity while retaining affordability for all users.
