On Sept. 28, Boeing delivered Rio-Sul's first Next-Generation 737-700 commercial jetliner. The delivery is the first major step in the Brazilian carrier's program to replace its fleet of Boeing 737 Classics. Leased through Boullioun Aviation Services Inc., the new airplane will offer Rio-Sul's passengers spacious new interiors and superior on-time service levels.
The Next-Generation 737 is designed to fly higher, faster, farther, quieter and with greater fuel efficiency than previous 737 models as well as competing models in its class. Rio-Sul Airlines, a member company of the VARIG Group and based in Rio de Janeiro, joins a growing family of Next-Generation 737 operators in Latin America, including VARIG, Azteca Airlines, BWIA Airlines, COPA Airlines, GOL Airlines and LAPA.
