Boeing Announces Decatur Docking by Delta Mariner to be Delayed

The first arrival ceremony for the MV Delta Mariner to Decatur Ala., scheduled for Wednesday, August 8th, has been cancelled. During first approach from the main channel in the Tennessee River to the Mallard Fox Creek dock, a sandbar was struck by the Delta Mariner, forcing a delay in docking operations. As a result the ceremony will not be held as scheduled.

Neither damage to the environment nor the vessel was incurred. The Delta Mariner was not carrying any cargo at the time. Boeing officials will consider rescheduling the Decatur event for a later date.

The Delta Mariner is owned by Foss Maritime Co., operated by Gulf Caribe Maritime and used to ship flight articles of the Boeing Delta family of rockets to their destinations at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla., and Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.
