Aeromagazine Honors Boeing 737 With Aviation Award

AeroMagazine, one of the most widely read aviation magazines in Latin America, has named the Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 its "Best Commercial Jet Tested in Flight" in 2000.

AeroMagazine each year honors aviation excellence in six airplane categories. It also bestows awards to four companies and to one individual for special achievement. The Boeing 737-700 was recognized in the airplane category of "Best Commercial Jet Tested in Flight by AeroMagazine."

The test flight of the 737-700 was reported by pilot and reporter Robert Zwerdling. The flight-test report appeared in the December 2000 issue of AeroMagazine under the headline, "The New Star of the Fleet." The airplane flown for the AeroMagazine report is operated by VARIG Airlines, which currently has a fleet of five Next-Generation 737-700s. Other Boeing Next-Generation operators in Latin America include GOL Airlines, Copa Airlines, LAPA, BWIA International Airlines and Azteca Airlines.

A panel of 10 aviation experts in Brazil selected the 737-700 for the prize.

The Boeing 737 offers the newest, most-advanced technology in the single-market aisle while delivering the lowest operating costs in its class.
