Tunisair has taken delivery of a Boeing Next-Generation 737-600 airplane at Boeing Field in Seattle, Wash. With the addition of the new airplane, the carrier will operate 15 Boeing 737s in its fleet.

"The 737 has been the backbone of our fleet for years -- reliable and cost-efficient," said Abdelmalek Larif, president and general director of Tunisair. "The Next-Generation 737-600 is the ideal airplane because of its low fuel consumption and it has the newest technology of any airplane in its class, with 99.6 percent dispatch reliability."

Established in 1948, Tunisair is the official flag carrier of Tunisia. Tunisair will fly its new 737-600 on routes in Africa, Europe and the Middle East.

All models of the Next-Generation 737 family incorporate a new, advanced-technology wing design that helps increase and improve fuel capacity and efficiency, both of which increase range. The airplanes are powered by CFM56-7 engines produced by CFMI, a joint venture of General Electric Co. and Snecma of France.
