Boeing engineers have reached the 25-percent milestone for all structural design releases on the new Longer-Range 747-400, allowing factories and suppliers to begin fabricating tooling and airplane parts assemblies. The airplane, which offers operators the choice of carrying more cargo or 500 miles more range, is scheduled for first delivery to Qantas Airways in November 2002.
