Azteca Airlines, a new regional airline based in Mexico City, has ordered two Boeing Next-Generation 737-700 airplanes, making it the first airline in Mexico to operate the advanced 737. Azteca will launch its passenger service next month with leased 737-300s, then incorporate the 737-700s into its fleet upon delivery later this year. The total order is valued at approximately $94 million. Azteca is the latest Latin American carrier to operate the Next-Generation 737, joining BWIA International Airways, COPA Airlines, GOL Airlines, LAPA Argentina and Varig Airlines.
