A Boeing 737-700, operated by China Southwest Airlines, rises into thin air 11,700 feet above sea level at Lhasa, in the Tibetan highlands. Boeing flight test pilots simulated one inoperative engine on takeoff and landing at Lhasa and Bangda, which is 14,200 feet above sea level, to demonstrate the performance capabilities of the Next-Generation 737 for potential service in China's developing Western region.
