Hawaiian Airlines has signed a firm order for 13 Boeing 717-200 twinjets, with rights to purchase an additional seven airplanes. The order is valued at approximately $430 million. The 717s will be configured to carry 123 passengers and will be used to fly Hawaiian Airlines' inter-island network. The Boeing 717 twinjet is a cost-effective airplane designed to serve high-frequency, short- to medium-range routes. Delivery of the first Hawaiian 717 will be in February 2001, with the remainder scheduled in the same year.
