The Boeing Company announced today that Frederick W. "Rick" Sine, former vice president of line maintenance for U.S. Airways, has joined Boeing Airplane Services as vice president. In this new position, he is responsible for developing and implementing integrated support programs for large-scale customer requirements such as airline fleet maintenance and engineering support.
"Rick's experience managing airline maintenance activities gives Boeing a real edge in the new and exciting arena of total fleet management support," said Joe Gullion president of Boeing Airplane Services. "The world in which our customers live and operate is changing, and the support they require from Boeing is changing as well. To provide that support, it will be increasingly important for us to offer our customers solutions to their operating and maintenance needs that integrate a number of service providers under a single management structure."
Sine reports directly to Gullion. His responsibilities include integrating current Boeing services and capabilities with those from selected world-class vendors to create specific, tailored programs to meet the maintenance, logistics and operating needs of the current and future Boeing Airplane Services customers. Sine's first assignment will be implementing the recently signed agreement under which Boeing Airplane Services will provide DHL Worldwide Express with 44 757 Special Freighters and a turn-key maintenance and logistics support program.
Before joining Boeing, Sine led the day-to-day maintenance activities for more than 400 jet airplanes at U.S. Airways. He managed 3,200 people and 12,000 pieces of ground support equipment in 39 separate locations. Earlier in his career, Sine directed the aircraft maintenance workforce at United Parcel Service and led the acquisition and introduction into service of more than 100 new and used aircraft. He also oversaw the heavy maintenance and modification activities for UPS. Most recently he was associated with NOVA Advisory Group International as their vice president of airline operations.
