The Boeing Company has named James C. Restelli president of Military Aerospace Support, part of the company's Military Aircraft and Missile Systems unit.
Restelli previously led the Aerospace Support business as vice president and general manager. His new position signifies the growing importance of the rapidly expanding Aerospace Support business to defense customers.
In making the announcement, Mike Sears, president of Boeing Military Aircraft and Missile Systems, said, "Jim has been instrumental in driving our company toward a new focus on providing preeminent support products and services to our many military customers. The Aerospace Support business is key to our future growth strategies."
Aerospace Support is an organization that integrates maintenance and modification, logistics support services, and training and support systems competencies to offer life-cycle customer support solutions to U.S. and international military services. It is the fastest growing component within Military Aircraft and Missile Systems, with a strategic plan to approximately triple its revenues over the next 10 years.
The aggressive growth of the business includes the establishment of military-aircraft maintenance, modification and upgrade centers in San Antonio, Texas, and Jacksonville, Fla.
Restelli joined McDonnell Aircraft Company in 1963 in the Fiscal Division, later becoming vice president of Contracts and Pricing. He was subsequently appointed vice president of Business Operations and later became senior vice president of Tactical Aircraft and Missile Systems, a division of McDonnell Douglas Aerospace.
He began building the McDonnell Douglas Aerospace Support business as vice president and general manager, and following the merger continued integrating the military support competencies as vice president and general manager of Aerospace Support for Boeing.
Restelli holds a bachelor's degree in industrial relations and a master's degree in management sciences from St. Louis University.
