Boeing Team Wins Future Imagery Architecture

A team led by The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] and including Hughes, Raytheon, Kodak and Harris has been awarded a Future Imagery Architecture (FIA) contract by the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

A key element of the NRO's space-based architecture, the FIA award confirms the leadership position of Boeing in the area of space imaging. The FIA program will provide the customer with a significant enhancement to America's critical intelligence capability over the next decade.

Ed Nowinski, Boeing FIA Program Manager, stated, "This was a very hard-fought competition and the win is the result of the total commitment of our team."

"The exceptional technical strength of our team, our innovative solution to the customer's requirements, and our corporate commitment to this business area led to this award," said Dr. Roger Roberts, vice president and general manager for Boeing Integrated Defense Systems, Seal Beach, Calif.

"The win of this multi-year activity through 2010 culminates several years of hard work and a significant investment on the part of the Boeing Company," said Jim Albaugh, president of Boeing Space & Communications Group. "Our strength as a result of the merger of Boeing, McDonnell Douglas and the aerospace and defense businesses of Rockwell, combined with the capabilities of our teammates, provided us with the necessary skills and resources to secure this important win for Southern California. The FIA program will also provide the opportunity for significant employment growth in the years ahead."
