First Boeing 717 for AirTran Airlines Shows its Colors
The first 717-200 in launch customer AirTran Airlines' colors rolled out of the Boeing paint hangar in Long Beach, Calif. Jan. 23. The airplane is the first of 50 717s ordered by AirTran, which also holds options for an additional 50 airplanes. First flight of the AirTran jetliner will take place in February, with delivery scheduled this summer. The Boeing 717-200 is the only new airplane in production designed specifically for the 100-seat market.
