Sensor Wing Installed on Boeing F-22 Flying Test Bed

Boeing installed a 26-foot long sensor wing on the fuselage of its F-22 Flying Test Bed. The wing gives Boeing the capability to test and integrate F-22 avionics in parallel with airframe testing currently under way at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif., and long before avionics testing occurs on board F-22 aircraft. Avionics flight tests will begin in early 1999.
