First Flight of Third 767 AWACS
The third Boeing 767 AWACS takes off from Boeing Field in Seattle during its successful first flight on Aug. 31. The flight marks the beginning of a test program to evaluate whether the aircraft's radar, navigation, computers/displays, mission systems and communication systems perform as designed. Aircraft number three is one of four 767 AWACS sold to the government of Japan. Two have been already delivered. The other two will be delivered early next year.
