Pegasus Airlines took delivery of its first purchased 737-400 on March 27. The private charter company, based in Istanbul, Turkey, also is scheduled to take delivery of a Next-Generation 737-800 in spring 1999. The airline ordered both jetliners in September 1997 to augment its existing fleet of six Boeing 737s. With nearly 4,000 orders, the 737 is the best-selling commercial jetliner of all time. On average, more than 800 737s are in the air at any given moment, with one taking off every six seconds.
