International AH-64D Apache: First of a New Breed

Employees at The Boeing Company in Mesa, Ariz., assemble the first of 30 AH-64D Apaches for The Royal Netherlands Air Force. The Netherlands will become the first international customer to take delivery of the AH-64D Apache during an official rollout scheduled for May. The multi-mission aircraft for The Netherlands will be the first new AH-64Ds to roll off the manufacturing line in Mesa, where the company has been remanufacturing U.S. Army AH-64A Apaches into next generation AH-64D Apache Longbows at a rate of three a month. The Apache helicopters for The Netherlands will incorporate a new state-of-the-art VHF-FM radio, and an underwater location transmitter. The first AH-64D squadron for The Netherlands will become operational around the turn of the century.
