Boeing Commercial Airplane Group confirmed today its contribution of $250,000 to the scholarship fund of the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) to support training of airline staff in developing economies. The company has previously contributed $100,000 to the fund.
"We appreciate that the high standards needed to maintain the safety and integrity of the worldwide air transportation system do not just happen. This takes a team of dedicated people who are committed to ensuring that airlines function safely and economically," said Nancy Bethel, executive vice president, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group, at a recent IATA-sponsored event in Amman, Jordan. "We believe that the International Airline Training Fund will continue to contribute significantly to this important work," she added.
Since its inception in 1984, the fund has granted more than 1,100 scholarships valued at more than $1.7 million.
