China Xinjiang Airlines has joined the growing number of Boeing 757-200 operators in China through an agreement with International Lease Finance Corporation, Boeing Commercial Airplane Group confirmed today. The airline will take delivery of one 757 in November of this year. Engine selection will be announced at a later date.
China Xinjiang Airlines, based in the city of Urumqi in western China, will use the 757 on routes to major cities throughout China.
"With the Boeing 757's superior economics, performance and proven track record, it is the ideal airplane to deliver high quality, comfortable travel for our customers," said Zhang Rui Pu, president of China Xinjiang Airlines. China Xinjiang Airlines currently operates two 737-300 aircraft and several Russian-built aircraft.
The 757 is one of the quietest, most fuel-efficient jets in the world. Its combination of low operating costs and range capability of nearly 4,000 nautical miles means it can fly short-to-medium routes with unmatched economy.
Airlines in China have taken delivery of more than 250 Boeing airplanes, representing more than 60 percent of China's market for Western-built commercial jet aircraft.
