16 businesses receive Supplier of the Year awards
SEATTLE, May 19, 2011 -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] has recognized 16 companies as top suppliers for their superior performance and ability to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction in 2010. The companies, honored as Boeing Supplier of the Year winners Wednesday night in Seattle at the Boeing Global Supplier Conference, were selected from a pool of more than 17,500 Boeing suppliers in more than 50 countries. "These companies are an incredibly strong group of suppliers that delivered outstanding results, superior performance and top-notch customer satisfaction in 2010," said Jim McNerney, Boeing chairman, president and CEO. "We appreciate their efforts as part of our team." "Boeing's Supplier of the Year program highlights the work being done to partner with world-class suppliers who deliver outstanding products and services," said Stan Deal, vice president and general manager of Supplier Management for Boeing Commercial Airplanes. "We view our suppliers as an extension of our production facilities. They bring us a combination of quality, capability, capacity and technology that enables us to meet and exceed customer expectations." The Boeing global supply chain is among the most complex and geographically dispersed in manufacturing. The company annually purchases more than $40 billion in goods and services from approximately 28,000 suppliers employing more than 1.2 million workers around the globe. The winning suppliers were chosen based on statistical measurements of quality, on-time delivery, post-delivery support, cost and their ability to anticipate and respond to changing customer requirements.
