Boeing awarded first contract to manage parts and support

ST. LOUIS, Sept. 17, 2014 – Boeing [NYSE: BA] received a $293 million performance-based contract from the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) to provide aircraft parts and support that will enable DLA to provide essential logistics support to warfighters more quickly and effectively.

“Boeing proposed a holistic partnership and transformational approach that fundamentally changes the way DLA and Boeing do business,” said Julie Praiss, vice president of Tactical Aircraft & Weapons Support. “We have laid the groundwork to improve affordability and efficiency that will increase aircraft availability for the warfighter.”

Boeing will provide support for 11 different aircraft: the AH-64, AV-8, B-1, B-52, C-17, CH-47, E-3, E-6, F-15, F/A-18, KC-135 and ground support equipment. Work will be performed in Mesa, Ariz.; Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; Macon, Ga.; St. Louis; Heath, Ohio; Oklahoma City, Okla.; El Paso, Texas; and Puget Sound, Wash.

Under the agreement, multiple contracts will be awarded incrementally to Boeing during the next five years. DLA has a follow-on option for an additional five years.

This long-term partnership is the result of DLA challenging industry in 2012 to reduce costs by 20 percent and improve overall supply performance. Boeing and DLA will continue collaborating on new ways to streamline processes, enhance performance and improve affordability.
