Boeing, AirBridgeCargo Airlines Agree to 747 Freighters Landing Gear Program

SEATTLE, Jan. 23, 2017 Boeing [NYSE: BA] announced an agreement with AirBridgeCargo Airlines to support the airline’s 747 Freighters through the Boeing Landing Gear Overhaul and Exchange Program.

The Russia-based cargo carrier will receive fully overhauled and certified landing gear to support nine of its 747 Freighters through the Boeing Landing Gear Overhaul and Exchange Program, with an ultimate commitment covering 18 additional 747s in the airline’s fleet.

Boeing’s Landing Gear Overhaul and Exchange Program provides a simple and economical solution for managing landing gear overhauls. Through the program, landing gear that needs to be repaired or overhauled can be exchanged for another set of certified landing gear from a pool that Boeing maintains, eliminating the need for customers to contract, schedule and manage the overhaul process.

“The Boeing Landing Gear Overhaul and Exchange Program is a comprehensive solution for our freighter fleet that will allow us to efficiently maintain our aircraft in the required technical condition and ensure we continue to deliver the highest level of service quality for our global customers,” said Sergey Lazarev, General Director, AirBridgeCargo Airlines. “Our participation in this program is another result of the long-term partnership agreement signed by Boeing and Volga-Dnepr Group earlier this year.”

In July, Boeing and Volga-Dnepr Group signed the long-term partnership agreement and announced an agreement to explore future services opportunities.

“Boeing is proud to continue its long, successful partnership with Volga-Dnepr by providing a cost-effective and reliable alternative to purchasing new landing gear and performing equipment overhaul,” said David Longridge, vice president, Sales and Marketing, Boeing Commercial Aviation Services.

AirBridgeCargo Airlines is the largest cargo carrier in Russia providing its customers with scheduled cargo services linking Asia, Europe and America via Russia, all served by its Boeing 747 Freighter fleet up to 130 tonnes.

AirBridgeCargo was the first cargo carrier in Russia to operate the Boeing 747-8 Freighter. Its fleet now consists of 16 747s including four Boeing 747-400ERFs, three Boeing 747-400Fs and nine Boeing747-8 Freighters.

Boeing is a leader in providing 24/7 support and service to the global aviation industry. In addition to its parts business, Boeing offers the industry’s largest portfolio of services, including retrofits and modifications, subscription-based maintenance programs, engineering support, crew training, route planning, digital crew scheduling, advanced data analytics and software to enhance airlines and leasing company operations.
