Boeing Cybersecurity Products to Make Australian Debut at MilCIS 2010

CANBERRA, Australian Capital Territory, Nov. 4, 2010 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] will showcase its cybersecurity products in Australia for the first time at the Military Communications and Information Systems Conference (MilCIS), held Nov. 9-11 in Canberra.

Australian government and defense officials will see demonstrations of Boeing products including:

  • Cross Domain Solution (XDS), used by governments to share secure data while planning and monitoring critical situations
  • Cyber Concepts Analysis Model (Cyber CAM), used to simulate cyber attacks and defenses
  • Security Monitoring Infrastructure System (SMIS), which detects and reports network anomalies for broader situational awareness.

"Boeing has a long history of developing and deploying capabilities for Australia in the land, air, sea and space domains. We plan to add cyberspace to that list with the cybersecurity capabilities and products we are introducing to Australia at MilCIS 2010," said Barbara Fast, vice president of Cyber and Information Solutions for Boeing. "Boeing's products improve situational awareness, understanding, information sharing, and rapid and effective decision-making for the complex missions that warfighters and intelligence professionals face today."

MilCIS is the only conference held annually in Australia for government, defense and industry decision makers to discuss communications and information systems solutions, with a focus on cybersecurity. More than 600 attendees are expected to visit the Boeing exhibit.

"Boeing is a leader in the emerging cybersecurity market in the United States. Boeing Defence Australia is drawing on that experience to further develop our cyber capabilities in Australia," said Steve Parker, vice president and general manager of Network and Space Systems for Boeing Defence Australia. "The Cyber CAM tool is a great example of the ingenuity we have here in the cyberspace domain."

Boeing Defence Australia's Systems Analysis Laboratory, one of Boeing Phantom Works' international experimentation facilities, developed Cyber CAM for cross-domain analysis and experimentation. Cyber CAM gives competing teams of cyber-warriors the opportunity to engage in offensive, defensive and recovery operations in simulated cyberspace to better understand the adaptive nature of emerging threats to military and commercial networks.
