KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, Nov. 11, 2008 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] has selected Asian Composite Manufacturing Sdn Bhd (ACM) to provide the elevator and rudder-machined honeycomb core for Boeing's 777 airplane. The contract was awarded based on ACM's capacity and capability to complete the work on schedule and its reliability as a supplier and cost effective producer. Hawker de Havilland (HdH), a Boeing subsidiary, headquartered in Port Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, is the Boeing integrator for the 777 elevator and rudder. Financial terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"The Boeing Company has had a long and outstanding business relationship with ACM," said Mark Ross, managing director of Hawker de Havilland. "We consider ACM a very reliable, cost effective and high quality supplier and look forward to our continued relationship with them," said Ross. ACM is also producing Boeing's Next-Generation 737 aileron panels, has supported composite panel production for the 747-400 and now supplies composite details for the 747-8 with composite panels and the new composite bullnose.

"We are delighted to have been awarded the 777 rudder core package," said Bhupinderjeet Singh, general manager of ACM. With most of ACM's work historically focused on in-house requirements, the contract bolsters the company's efforts to grow their business by providing an opportunity for them to use surplus core manufacturing capability to provide manufactured core to external customers.

Asian Composites Manufacturing Sdn Bhd, a world leader in supplying composite products and sub-assemblies to the global aerospace industry, is a strategic alliance between Malaysian company Sime Darby Bhd and its U.S. joint-venture partners, Hexcel and Boeing. Boeing is a one-third owner of ACM. The joint venture, established in 1998, is based in Kedah Darul Aman, Malaysia.
