SUFFOLK, Va., Oct. 20, 2008 -- The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] opened a new experimentation center today in Suffolk, Va., bringing its full modeling, simulation, analysis and experimentation capability to government customers in the high-tech Hampton Roads area.

Located in Bridgeway Technology Center III, the state-of-the-art center is designed to facilitate collaboration with customers through experimentation using live, virtual and constructive simulation. Customers will be able to examine new concepts of operations, explore options, analyze performance, refine requirements, enable rapid development and testing of capabilities, and reduce risk.

Boeing Advanced Systems' Analysis, Modeling, Simulation and Experimentation (AMSE) organization built and will operate the center.

"With this facility, we plan to leverage the power of the experimentation capability already established at our Virtual Warfare Center in St. Louis," said Darryl Davis, president of Boeing Advanced Systems. "Collaboration is key to making better decisions, for our customers as we work together to find them the best solutions, and for Boeing as we determine how to invest our resources to best support our customers."

The capabilities offered at the Suffolk center are enabled by the Boeing Laboratory Network, which distributes the company's simulation environment to Boeing, industry and government labs. This global reach brings any combination of modeling and simulation capabilities needed into the simulation environment, tapping into the expertise of all participating companies and organizations.

"The new center allows experiment designers to create an optimal environment for each experiment and to host concurrent activities at multiple levels of security," said Guy Higgins, Boeing vice president of AMSE. "We offer reconfigurable laboratories and a state-of-the-art presentation and audiovisual suite."

The Suffolk center will support U.S. Department of Defense and other government customers in the region, including support to the three-year Boeing/U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) Cooperative Research and Development Agreement. Boeing is working with USJFCOM's Suffolk-based Joint Innovation and Experimentation Directorate to analyze current, emerging and future joint warfighting concepts and capabilities.
