Boeing Deepwater Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Enters Commercial Service

UNDERWATER OCEAN SURVEYOR -- Boeing, Fugro, and Oceaneering have jointly developed Echo Ranger, an unmanned autonomous underwater vehicle that is performing deepwater surveying in water depths of up to 3,000 meters (10,000 feet). Ideally suited for the collection of deepwater "swath" bathymetry, surveying natural and man-made seafloor features, and profiling sub-bottom marine sediments, Echo Ranger provides a cost-effective alternative for gas, oil, and telecommunications companies. Echo Ranger, pictured just prior to a recent sea-trial, recently began service for clients in the Gulf of Mexico.
