The Boeing Delta IV rocket booster that will launch the first Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle mission for the U.S. Air Force was erected on the launch pad today.
With the first stage integrated to the second stage and launch mate unit, the Delta IV was transported from the Horizontal Integration Facility at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. to the fixed pad erector at Space Launch Complex 37B. There, the team lifted the rocket into a vertical position.
The launch of the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) III A3 spacecraft aboard a Delta IV Medium configuration of the rocket is scheduled for February 2003.
