Boeing Names David Wang President of Boeing China

The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] today named David Wang president of Boeing-China. Wang will be responsible for coordinating all company business activities in the People's Republic of China and will be based in Beijing at the Boeing-China headquarters.

The Boeing Company is the leading provider of commercial jetliners to Chinese airlines, a significant customer of Chinese aviation manufacturing companies, and a committed partner of China in its pursuit to enhance the country's aviation infrastructure and airline industry.

"China is one of the most important markets to The Boeing Company and has the potential to become one of the largest economies in the world," said Phil Condit, chairman and chief executive officer, The Boeing Company. "David Wang's familiarity with Chinese culture as well as the American business environment will help enhance our relationships and presence in China. He will also focus on pursuing growth opportunities for Boeing."

Wang is the 10th senior executive to be appointed in the last 12 months to lead an international office for Boeing. The new executives are focusing on strengthening the Boeing local-market presence and identifying ways to grow the company's business. "Our strategy is to expand globally and pursue business initiatives that will create value for Boeing," said Tom Pickering, senior vice president, International Relations. "China plays a key role in our global strategy, and David will work with all of the Boeing business units to help identify and evaluate potential opportunities to create value and broaden our business activities."

Wang joins Boeing from General Electric Company. He most recently served as chairman and chief executive officer of GE China. His previous positions have included president of GE Malaysia/Singapore and president of GE Medical Systems China. He has lived and worked in China for more than seven years and is fluent in English, Chinese Mandarin, Shanghai, and Cantonese.

Fred Howard, Boeing-China's president for the past three years, is leaving his post in Beijing to assume the new position of vice president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes' Asia/Pacific Sales and will be based in Hong Kong at Boeing Commercial Airplanes Asia/Pacific sales office. In this capacity, Howard will help strengthen Boeing's presence and assist Larry Dickenson, senior vice president of Sales -- Boeing Commercial Airplanes, in airplanes sales activities within this very important region.
