The first KC-135 Stratotanker to undergo programmed depot maintenance at the Boeing Aerospace Support Center has completed the depaint process and has been positioned in the giant hangar once part of Kelly Air Force Base. The KC-135 is the fourth type of aircraft in work at the San Antonio, Texas, facility, along with the KC-10 Extender, C-17 Globemaster III, and DC-10/MD-10 cargo conversion. More than 20 aircraft are now at the center, which began maintenance and modification operations last August. The Boeing Aerospace Support Center is one of four maintenance and modification centers operated by Boeing's Aerospace Support business, which is part of the company's Military Aircraft & Missile Systems Group. Other Aerospace Support maintenance and modification locations include Wichita, Kan.; Shreveport, La., and Williams Gateway Airport in Mesa, Ariz.
