The Boeing Company has appointed Russell L. Szczepanik as Information & Communications Systems director of Marketing in Australia and New Zealand. Szczepanik will be based in Canberra, Australia.
"This appointment increases the Boeing commitment to developing its defence information and communications systems business in Australia and New Zealand," said John Lorber, Boeing vice president, Business Development, Information and Surveillance Systems, a business segment of Boeing Information & Communications Systems.
"Szczepanik has operational experience and expertise in airborne early warning and control systems. That strengthens the company's in-country presence in information and command and control systems and its bid to become the prime contractor in supplying up to seven airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) systems for the Australian Defence Force," Lorber said.
Boeing is one of three companies competing for the AEW&C contract called Project Wedgetail.
Prior to his new assignment in Canberra, Szczepanik was based in Seattle as the worldwide business development manager for the 737 Airborne Early Warning and Control system; and previously was involved in the Japan Self Defense Force 767 AWACS program.
